This Scholarship and Financial Aid page provides an overview of the scholarship and the financial aid process, information on how to search for scholarships and grants available exclusively to seniors in Loudoun County Public Schools, and suggests resources for investigating other sources of financial aid.

Federal Student Aid, an office of the U.S. Department of Education, is the largest provider of student financial aid in the nation. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)- Government application to assess student aid. All students qualify for loans; however, some students qualify for grants. The FAFSA may also be needed to qualify for "needs-based" scholarships for proof of need. 

The FAFSA application typically opens on October 1st and closes on June 30th. This year has been delayed until December 31st due to changes being made to the form. Some colleges and states set earlier deadlines for financial aid. Check with your college to see if it sets its own FAFSA deadline. Since some financial aid is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, it's a good idea to submit the FAFSA as close to October 1st as possible. Many regular decision colleges want to know your attendance decision by May 1st. By filling out the FAFSA early, you'll be able to compare financial aid packages from multiple colleges, making it easier to decide on a school.
