Transition Center Roundtable
The Department of Student Services is hosting a Transition Center Roundtable on May 6 at 9 a.m.
What is a Transition Center?
The LCPS Transition Center, is a comprehensive program for students with disabilities, focusing on career and technical education and independent living skills to enhance their workforce integration, independence, and quality of life.
The Transition Center will serve high school students with disabilities who are working toward an Applied Studies Diploma or an extended Standard Diploma or who have earned these diplomas but are under the age of 22 and still eligible for educational instruction through LCPS. Career exploration will also be available for middle school students with disabilities to aid in their transition to high school. A multidisciplinary team including CTE and special education teachers, vocational evaluators, and job coaches will provide instruction. Additional staff will also provide student and administrative support. Together, this team will create a robust support system tailored to meet the diverse needs of participating students.
The establishment of a Transition Center is a priority of the LCPS Special Education and Advisory Committee in collaboration with the Office of Special Education and with the support of the Loudoun County School Board.
