Instructional Facilitator Technology, Jennifer Staples
I attended George Mason University where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Integrative Studies and my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I'm licensed to teach Elementary Education PK-6 and Middle Ed 6-8: Mathematics. The 2024-2025 school year is my 19th working in Loudoun County Public Schools. I taught third and fifth grade for eight years, then worked for the Department of Instruction in the LCPS administration building for two and a half years. Missing working directly with students, I became an Instructional Facilitator, Technology, serving at Sterling Elementary for three and a half years, before moving to Horizon Elementary. My certifications include: VSTE Certified Coach, Apple Teacher, Level 2 Adobe Creative Educator, Common Sense Educator, and Level 1 Google Certified Educator.
Originally from Berryville, Virginia, I grew up on a farm and was an active member of the FFA, 4-H, community outreach, band, and sports teams. I still love to be involved in these types of activities and to volunteer. Although I now live in Sterling Park, I often travel to my family farm and enjoy being outside and playing with my niece and nephew. I'm a Washington football fan, and my hobbies are baking fancy cakes for the local Cake4Kids charity and playing volleyball.
I am proud to be a part of the Horizon Elementary family and work with some of the best students and staff in the county! I strive to contribute to the high quality of education our students receive that will help them learn deeply and make meaningful contributions to our world. If you ever have any questions or concerns, I am happy to help!

In Loudoun County Schools, technology is integrated into content. Unlike "specials" such as music, physical education, and art, computer activities are intended to be integrated rather than function as a stand-alone discipline. Individual teachers are responsible for content integration and technology-rich lessons. The Instructional Facilitator, Technology (IFT) is available to work with teachers on lesson planning, delivery, and assessment utilizing educational technology to boost student engagement and deepen learning. The Digital Experience Specialist (DES) is available to help troubleshoot issues with hardware so students and staff have access to the tools they need to be successful.
As our society becomes ever dependent on technology, our goal is to model appropriate uses of technology to complete tasks across the curriculum in language arts, math, science, social studies and other disciplines. Throughout the school year, students will utilize a variety of software and hardware that allows them to create, collaborate, communicate, contribute, and think critically. Our students develop 21st century skills they will need in the workforce of the future.
