Students are responsible for registering for the ACT and SAT exams (links are below). Be sure to check the college admissions websites to determine if an ACT or SAT score is necessary for the college you are applying to.

The PSAT is available for LCPS students (grades 9-11) to take in October. The official date will be communicated by the Testing Coordinator.

The ACT® test is a curriculum & standards based educational and career planning tool that assesses students' academic readiness for college.

The ACT motivates students to perform to their best ability; test scores reflect what students have learned throughout high school and provide colleges and universities with excellent information for recruiting, advising, placement, and retention; and support college and career planning. The ACT career exploration component helps students identify personally relevant career options.

The SAT is a globally recognized college admission test. It tests your knowledge of reading, writing and math — subjects that are taught every day in high school classrooms. Most students take the SAT during their junior or senior year of high school, and almost all colleges and universities use the SAT to evaluate admission decisions.

Taking the SAT is the first step in finding the right college for you, since SAT scores are just one of many factors that colleges consider when making their admission decisions.

PSAT Testing Information

The PSAT assists students to prepare for college readiness through its assessment of critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills that students need for college and beyond.
