Suicide Prevention: How do I access help now? - In an emergency, call 911 and ask for a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) deputy or officer. There also are resources available 24 hours, 7 days a week for youth experiencing depression, suicidal thoughts or other behavioral crises. Through Loudoun County Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Developmental Services, help is available at 703-777-0320 for youth experiencing an immediate and severe emotional crisis. The Crisis Intervention Team Assessment Center, located at 102 Heritage Way, Leesburg, Virginia, is open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily, and mental health professionals are available for anyone in crisis. Non-emergency appointments can be made at 703-771-5100.
Student Support Services - This is the hub for School Social Workers. These individuals work closely with the School Counseling Department, but are also involved in social cultural assessments, special education counseling services, student support groups, case management services, and so much more.
Restorative Practices - Social Workers, School Counselors, and School Psychologists are certified to provide the full continuum of Restorative Practices as a prevention and intervention model to foster school connection, build community, develop emotional literacy and learn conflict resolutions skills. Restorative Practices is also used as an option for discipline and as a way to address wrong-doings when students or the school community have been harmed. Restorative Practices provides opportunities for dialogue between students who have harmed and those that have been harmed. In addition in-service trainings are provided to orient LCPS staff to Restorative Practices.
Student Referral and Assessment Program - In an effort to provide expedited access to free assessments for students who may be having difficulties due to behavior or emotional problems, family issues, peer relationships, or other student adjustment challenges, Loudoun County Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services (MHSADS) and Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Pupil Services collaborate for the Student Referral and Assessment Program (SRAP). SRAP is an assessment and referral service provided by MHSADS. MHSADS staff will provide assessments at the Leesburg office from 10-2 during business days. Parents or guardians can transport the student to the site to have him or her assessed by a MHSADS clinician. After the assessment is completed, the clinician will provide information about referrals, recommendations and resources, to the student and parent/guardian. Loudoun County Substance Abuse Prevention Program - The SAP Program provides the following services: Drug and Alcohol Interview and Referral, Recovery Groups, Pre-Recovery Groups, Educational Groups, COA Groups, Insight Class with Follow-Up Support and Parent Meeting, 30 Day Program, and Smoking Prevention.
