Course selection for the next school year begins around the start of the second semester. The following is a summary of the process the school follows each year for current students.

  • In late January, Riverside hosts a Curriculum Fair at the school so families can learn about the various courses available. Watch for information about the exact date and time in Mr. Anderson's newsletter as it gets closer.

  • In February and March, school counselors meet individually with every 9th, 10th, and 11th grade student to discuss their academic plans and make their course requests.

  • In April, the school emails all parents a listing of the classes their students have chosen, and parents can discuss making changes to these choices, if necessary. The deadline for making changes to course requests is the last day of school.

  • This year's Curriculum Fair will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd at 6:30pm

The Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) 2024-2025 Program of Studies contains information regarding graduation requirements and all possible courses available to high school students in LCPS. Riverside offers most, but not all, of the courses listed in the LCPS Program of Studies. Please see the document below for a complete listing of all courses offered by Riverside for the year indicated. Also, the website for the Division of Teaching and Learning has additional information about the various academic content areas, as the Division provides leadership and support to schools and classrooms in achieving the mission of Loudoun County Public Schools.

For those who are not able to attend Riverside’s Curriculum Fair in person, or who would like to get information about courses at their leisure at home, we also maintain a collection of short videos describing most of the courses available at Riverside.
