What Are Scholarships?
Scholarships are gifts. They don't need to be repaid. There are thousands of them, offered by schools, employers, individuals, private companies, nonprofits, communities, religious groups, and professional and social organizations.
Avoid These Scholarship Scams
Any website or organization that requires your social security number. There's absolutely NO NEED for any organization to know this information!
Any website or organization that requires you to PAY for access to their list of scholarships, or to apply for any scholarships.
Any website or organization that GUARANTEES your acceptance for any scholarships.

Where to Search for Scholarships
Use the following sites to search for nation-wide scholarships. Keep in mind, some scholarships are for specific schools, grade level, majors/course of study, ethnicity, student's home state, GPA average, etc. Be sure to read all of the eligibility rules!
Your SchooLinks account - log into LCPS-GO and go to SchooLinks. On the left, click on the Finances icon, then "Scholarship Matching." If this is your first time accessing this feature, you'll need to complete the short profile. Need help? Come to the Career Center.

CollegeBoard.com: One of the oldest scholarship websites out there. It was around when Ms. Yeh was applying to college back in 2001!

$1,000- NAACP Fitz Alexander Campbell Thomas (F.A.C.T.) Memorial Scholarship
$500- NAACP High School Youth Chapter Scholarship*
* Must be a member of a High School NAACP Chapter to apply.
Applicant must be a:
Loudoun County, Virginia resident,
High School Graduating Senior and
Member of a historically under represented group.
Christina Koslowski DeHoux Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Christina Koslowski DeHoux, who passed away on June 14th, 2021. Christina taught French in Loudoun County Public Schools for six years: three years at Tuscarora High School, and three years at Riverside High School. She was the inaugural French teacher when Riverside opened in 2015.
$2,000 Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties
Criteria: Recipient must be a Loudoun-county resident and a graduate or graduating from a Loudoun County high school with an emphasis on Riverside High School with at least a 3.4 GPA with some emphasis on financial need as well community involvement, events and/or sports, and intent to achieve a four-year degree. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Completed Community Foundation universal application form; FAFSA/1040, SAT/ACT scores, letter of recommendation, grade transcripts required and 250- 300-word essay sharing “Your goals and why you wish to attend higher education.”
The complete application package must be received by email to: Email scholarships@communityfoundationlf.org, or by mail at: CFLNFC, 714 East Market Street, Leesburg, VA 20176 by April 1, 2025.
Riverside HS PTSO Scholarship: ONE $1000 scholarship for students who are going to a traditional 4-year college. Student and their family must be a member of the Riverside PTSO. Click on the link and use the Google Form to apply. Deadline is 5pm on May 10th.
Barbe Family Vocational Scholarship: ONE $1000 scholarship for students who are attending a trades school, career school, or the military. Click on the link and use the Google Form to apply. Deadline is 5pm on May 9th.
Riverside HS Athletic Booster scholarship: download the application by clicking on the link. You must have played/managed at least 1 sport for at least 1 year at Riverside.
Seldens Landing Elementary School Scholarship: the 5th grade class of Seldens Landing ES is excited to offer one (1) $500 scholarship to a graduating senior and former Seldens Landing student, fo rhte intention of pursing undergraduate studies in the Fall of 2024. Download the application by clicking on the link. The form is partially fillable; you will need to type up the essays in a separate document. Submit completed apps to Ms. Yeh (Email Ms. Yeh) in the Career Center.
Belmont Ridge Middle School PTSO Scholarship: download the application by clicking on the link. Open to all Riverside seniors who attended and graduated from Belmont Ridge Middle School. Deadling to apply is Friday, 4/19 a 11:59pm.
