Smyth, Kelly - Asst. Principal

Welcome Back Mavericks!

I am Kelly Smyth, one of the Assistant Principals here at Smart's Mill Middle School!  I am beginning my 18th year in Loudoun County Public Schools, as first a teacher, department chair, Dean of Students and now Assistant Principal.  I have spent my 18 years as an educator here at Smart's Mill and am extremely invested in our growth as a school and community.   I hold a teaching license in K-12 Special Education (ED, SLD, Aut) with endorsements in English, Math, Science and History.  I earned my Master of Education Degree in Administration and Supervision through Regent University of Virginia. I believe in being a lifelong learner, educating and affirming all students, and am continually engaging in professional development to expand my knowledge of education and particularly, education at the middle level.

When I'm not at school, you can find me in Western Loudoun, where I live with my husband, 7-year-old daughter, Ava, my 3 bonus daughters, Morgan, Ashton and Sydney and our 2 dogs.  I love watching baseball (Go Yankees) and reading! We love being active and exploring new parks and hiking spots! You will frequently see Ava here with me for after-school events!

I am passionate about students and their development, especially through these critical middle school years.  I believe in the education of the whole child, academically, emotionally and socially.  I believe in creating lifelong learners, critical thinkers, fostering creative minds, teaching collaboration and empowering all students to make meaningful contributions to the world.

Please feel free to reach out via email or phone anytime.
