Guinther, Joe - Asst. Principal

Guinther, Joe - Asst. Principal

Mr. Guinther is from West Lafayette, Ohio and a huge Ohio State football fan. He moved to Northern Virginia in 1993 and began his teaching career at Oliver Wendell Holmes Middle School, located in Fairfax County, Virginia.  During his ten years at Holmes Middle School, he taught special education, sixth grade general science, and supervised the after-school intramural program.

After moving to Loudoun County in 2002, he helped open Belmont Ridge Middle School. During his four years at Belmont, he taught sixth grade science and started a fishing club. After teaching during the day, Mr. Guinther went back to college in 2007 and earned his Master of Science degree in Education Administration from Shenandoah University.

In 2007, he became the seventh grade dean at Sterling Middle School. After serving as dean for three and a half years, he moved on to assistant principal of Sterling Middle for six more years.

In January of 2017, Mr. Guinther was hired as assistant principal of Smart's Mill Middle School.  He was excited to join the Maverick family and serve the community where he lives.

Currently, Mr. Guinther lives in Leesburg, Virginia with his three children, Cole, Cayden, Carson and his beautiful wife Rasyl. On the weekends, Mr. Guinther can be found hunting deer and turkey or muskie fishing on the Potomac River. One day, Mr. Guinther would like to become a principal of his own school.

Any Maverick wanting to learn more about the fishing club, contact Mr. Guinther and ask him about the Maverick Anglers Fishing Club. We typically go trout fishing twice a year and schedule weekend trips around Loudoun County.
