Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has developed a comprehensive process that is followed when there is significant weather to decide if there should be a delayed opening or school closing.  The following link takes you to the webpage that describes the process.  The webpage contains a video and a document that describes the factors LCPS considers when making decisions to close or delay school due to inclement weather.

Roads not suitable for school bus use due to weather and alternate bus stop notification procedures

If Loudoun County experiences severe weather that results in certain roads being determined to not be suitable for school bus use, then alternate bus stops will be used.

To determine the condition of roads, they are visited and observed by members of the Transportation Division to see the effect of the weather.  The information about roads not suitable for school bus use and the alternate bus stop to be used is sent to affected households by Connect Ed message.
