Welcome to the Willard Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) was established in 1929 to recognize outstanding middle school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship. Membership in the honor society is both an honor and a responsibility! Students selected for membership in WMS NJHS are expected to continue to demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, service, character and citizenship.
The Willard Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society was established during the 2024-2025 School Year.
Our NJHS advisers are Ms. Carolyn Hathaway and Ms. Valerie Ulbrich.
The following steps are for current 8th grade students.
There are three steps to becoming a member of our Willard NJHS chapter.
1. You must have all A's. This includes A+, A, and A- grades. Only one exception is allowed in the following:
B+ in Algebra, Geometry, Robotics, or any World Language Class.
B in Algebra 2/Trig
For example:
All As and 1 B+ in Geometry
All As and 1 B in Algebra 2/Trig
2. You must fill out an application as well as a code of conduct form. The application part includes writing a brief essay about yourself and why you should be considered for NJHS, teacher recommendation, dean recommendation, and parent signature. Applications are then reviewed by a panel of teachers for then final approval with the advisor team.
3. You must be willing to complete 10 community service hours after submitting your application.
Students will be evaluated based on academic performance, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Invitations to apply will be sent out in December with the process of selection being complete in January.
We look forward to having you become a part of our chapter!
Please note that membership in our NJHS chapter here at Willard Middle School does not guarantee membership in the National Honor Society at the high school level.
