Technology

At Dominion Trail our goal is to model for our students appropriate uses of technology to complete tasks across the curriculum in language arts, math, science, social studies and other disciplines.  Throughout the school year, students will engage in a variety of technology-rich learning activities.  While our society is daily increasing its dependency on technology, we at Dominion Trail are continuing to do our part.

We strive to integrate technology into student’s weekly lessons that align with Virginia Standards of Learning.  Computer lab is not like art, music, and physical education in that it is not intended to be a stand-alone discipline.  Teachers are responsible for content integration, but are encouraged to use the Instructional Facilitator of Technology as another resource.  The IFT is always available and willing to help teachers with planning lessons and with delivering those lessons.

The Dominion Trail Elementary School Web Site is an ongoing project involving students and teachers.

Hello!  My name is Mr. Ivory.  I LOVE  being the Instruction Facililitator of Technology at DTES.  Prior to this position, I was at DTES as a 3rd and 5th grade teacher. I have a Bachelor's in Elementary Education K-6 from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters in Administration from George Mason University.  I taught in North Carolina before moving to Virginia to get closer to my family, who all live in Pennsylvania.  My wife also teaches for LCPS at Broad Run High School and we have two awesome teenage kids!

Teaching elementary students has been a passion of mine since I began my teaching career.  I look forward to working with the staff and children this school year.

If you need anything, feel free to contact me at anytime.

I’m Carrie Jackman and I am so excited to be back at Dominion Trail for my 9th year as Digital Experience Specialist! Before joining DTES, I worked as an LCPS substitute and long-time parent volunteer in the schools.

My role as the DES is to assist staff and students with computer hardware issues and account access problems. I am also responsible for communicating changes and upcoming projects to staff members, assigning and deploying all devices to staff and students, maintaining accurate inventory records for all technology located at Dominion Trail Elementary and ensuring every device in the school such as staff laptops, student chromebooks and Promethean technology, are working properly.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources from Virginia Tech. Go Hokies! After college, I worked for many years in the retail world and then as a marketing rep for clothing manufacturers Liz Claiborne and Jones New York. When my kids were born, I took time off to stay home with them. I took full advantage of my free time by being an avid volunteer in their school. I headed several committees at school and was involved as a Girl Scout leader.  It was inevitable that I would end up working in the school in some capacity.

I currently live in Ashburn Farm with my husband, Scott and my daughters, Sydney, who attends University of Tennessee and Riley, who goes to Virginia Tech.  Go Hokies!  When not in school,  I enjoy reading and cooking and working on my home-based embroidery business.

I am looking forward to supporting the students and staff of Dominion Trail!
