Welcome back Stars! I hope you all had a fun summer! I am proud to serve as assistant principal at Frederick Douglass Elementary School. This school is near and dear to my heart and I will continue to do what is possible to help our Stars grow, academically and emotionally.
I began my career in 2001 at Sully Elementary. After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with my Master's in Special Education, I was ready to return to my home county. For my first 16 years, I was a special education teacher. I have taught students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Teaching a variety of students and meeting their needs is my passion. In 2012, I left Sully Elementary to open Frederick Douglass. I knew when we opened, we had a special place here in Leesburg. In 2017, I became the school-based instructional facilitator. This role allowed me to work coursework to earn my licensure for administrators. In 2019, I was provided the opportunity to become assistant principal. This role has given me the chance to work with teachers, students, staff, parents, and our community.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family. You might catch me running around Leesburg. If you do, please honk and wave!
Please feel free to contact me at any time for questions or concerns. I look forward to many great years!
