Hello Stars! Tyland Haywood is thrilled to join the Frederick Douglass Elementary community as a Dean. Mr. Haywood looks forward to supporting teachers and students with instruction, community and school relations, and student achievement.

Mr. Haywood began his career as a 3rd grade teacher when he opened Madison’s Trust Elementary in 2016. He holds a master's degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason, an Elementary Teaching Degree from Ferrum College, and has recently completed Loudoun County's Aspiring Administration Academy.

Mr. Haywood was born and raised in Northern Virginia. Having been part of a military family, he's had the unique opportunity to experience diverse communities while living in Maryland, Tennessee, Texas, North Carolina, and Virginia.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, pickleball, racquetball, and various other activities.
