Melissa Logan

Principal Melissa Logan began her career with Loudoun County Public Schools in 2016. As principal of Frederick Douglass Elementary School, her aim is to be an active ingredient in maintaining a learning community which provides students with opportunities to foster creativity, develop critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills. Realizing the importance of a positive partnership in schools, she works in concert with faculty, parents, and community in fulfilling the shared vision of providing a high-quality education to students. She looks forward to carrying out the vision of LCPS through sustaining a culture which celebrates student growth and learning through One to the World experiences.

Prior to joining LCPS, Mrs. Logan was a principal for three years and a vice principal for six years in Charles County Public Schools, MD.  In 2011, Mrs. Logan was honored as the CCPS Vice Principal of the Year.  She began her career in education as a 5th grade teacher in Prince George’s County Public Schools, MD. 

Mrs. Logan’s educational achievements include both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina.  Her undergraduate degree is in psychology, with a minor in elementary education and she holds a master’s degree in elementary education.  She also has an educational specialist’s degree in educational leadership and administration from The George Washington University.  

Mrs. Logan and her husband Ken moved to northern Virginia in 2016.  They have two sons and two daughters.  Their names are Kyle, Keaton, Karrington, and Kensington.  Mrs. Logan spent her childhood growing up in Charleston, SC.
