Lori Mercer is thrilled and honored to return as the principal of Hovatter Elementary. She holds a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. She has 30 years experience as an educator working in a variety of public settings with diverse student populations. Mrs. Mercer has served in a number of roles as classroom teacher, elementary assistant principal, and elementary principal. She has had the opportunity to open three new schools in her administrative tenure, Hovatter will be her fourth. Her expertise includes; curriculum and instruction, design and evaluation of professional development, co-teaching in an inclusive environment, personalized learning, and school and community relations. She has been active with Loudoun County’s Office of Elementary Education in mentoring new principals and worked in conjunction with the National Professional Development Center on evidence based practice for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Lori resides in Leesburg with her husband, Chris, two teen aged children, Charlie and Emily, and two pups, Mollie and Teddy. She can most often be found on the sidelines cheering for her children's sports teams, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
