Welcome to the Counselor's Corner!

April is a very special month for us at Hovatter Elementary School. It is the Month of the Military Child. This month, we recognize and celebrate the remarkable resilience and courage displayed by children whose parents actively serve in the military.

Military life can be demanding, and our students often deal with unique challenges. Frequent relocations, family separations due to deployments, and reintegration following deployments can make school, home, and community life difficult. Despite these circumstances, our military-connected students continue to inspire us with their strength and resilience.

Hovatter Mental Health Team

Hovatter Elementary School’s Unified Mental Health Team (UMHT) – comprised of school counselors, psychologist, and social worker – offers mental health services and supports to enhance student social, emotional, and behavioral growth. This team of school-based mental health professionals works with students, families, school staff, and outside providers to promote a positive school environment that supports student success and ability to cope with challenges through direct (e.g., classroom curriculum, group counseling and individual counseling) and indirect (e.g., collaborating or consulting with staff, families or communities) methods.
