Harmony Middle School’s Unified Mental Health Team (UMHT) is comprised of 5 school counselors, 1 school psychologist, 1 school social worker, 1 student assistance specialist, 1 school nurse, and our administrators . We offer mental health services and supports to enhance student social, emotional, and behavioral growth. This team of school-based mental health professionals works with students, families, school staff, and outside providers to promote a positive school environment that supports student success and ability to cope with challenges through direct (e.g., classroom curriculum, group counseling and individual counseling) and indirect (e.g., collaborating or consulting with staff, families or communities) methods.  Please meet our team below.

Our Vision:  The vision of Harmony Middle School Counseling Department is to empower all students to become meaningful contributors to our community and the world in which they live. 

Our Mission:  Harmony Middle School Counseling Department provides a comprehensive and developmental program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social needs in a safe and confidential environment for every student.   Harmony counselors collaborate with educators, parents, and the community to assist all students in becoming life-long learners.  We believe all students can be productive citizens. 

Our School Counseling Beliefs:

Harmony counselors will: 

  • Serve as advocates for all students to address individual, family, systemic and community needs with the belief that all students can be successful.

  • Provide professional school counseling services to all students. 

  • Provide a nurturing learning environment to help all students reach their highest potential and aspire to become lifelong learners. 

  • Address the diversity and developmental needs of all students to ensure they receive the maximum benefit from the counseling program and school learning community.

  • Collaborate with families, school staff, community members and other available resources to assist with student development.

  • Use data to develop, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the counseling program in the school’s learning environment through needs assessments, pre/post test, and the Harmony Middle School improvement plan.

  • Collaborate with the Harmony Administrative team to ensure that the counseling program services are meeting the needs of all students.

  • Adhere to the ethical standards as set forth by the American School Counselor Association, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance cultural competency, stay abreast of current trends and other information affecting students.

Our Counselors

Mr. Bryan Pecoraro - 8th Grade Counselor

Dr. Bryan Pecoraro - 8th Grade Counselor/Academic Programs

I grew up in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY, cheering on the Yankees, Jets, and enjoying great pizza. Eager to explore the world, I earned a Bachelor’s in psychology from James Madison University (GO DUKES!) and worked as a mental health counselor in Maryland. After completing my Master’s in counseling at George Mason University in 2008, I became a full-time counselor in Loudoun County. I went back to JMU to complete my Ph.D. in counseling and finished in the summer of 2023.

In my free time, you’ll find me at concerts, drumming to 80s/90s hits, at the movies, or exploring Virginia’s dining scene. I’m excited to serve the families of Harmony Middle School!

Mr. Bryan Pecoraro - 8th Grade Counselor

Ms. Ashley Warfield - 6th/7th Grade Counselor

My name is Ashley Warfield and I am a new school counselor at Harmony Middle School. I will be working with the 6th and 7th grade students here. This is my 3rd year in Loudoun County as a school counselor and I previously worked in WV for two in a half years as a school counselor as well. I received my undergraduate degree from Shepherd University in Psychology and my graduate degree is in School Counseling from Capella University.

 When I am not at school, you will find me out on an adventure with my two dogs, Brixie and Wrangler. I also love hiking, reading mystery books and trying every food truck I can find. I look forward to working at Harmony this year!

Mrs. Christy Pierson - 7th Grade Counselor

Mrs. Christy Pierson - 8th Grade Counselor

My name is Christy Pierson and I will be the 8th grade School Counselor this year.  I grew up in West Virginia and attended Concord College for my undergraduate degree, earning a Bachelor of Social Work . I then completed a Master of Social Work Degree from West Virginia University and a Master's Degree in School Counseling K-12 from Marshall University. I have had the pleasure of serving as a school counselor in K-12 settings for 21 years. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I was employed for 12 years in the mental health field. My husband and I are the proud parents of two grown sons, Braden and Conner, and the most precious granddaughters, Avery and Harper. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, spoiling our granddaughters, and interior decorating.

I joined the Harmony Counseling Department in the Fall of 2018 and look forward to continuing my partnership with students and parents as they move into 7th grade. This will be an amazing 23-24 year!

Mrs. Jamie Sharp - 6th Grade/Lead Counselor

Mrs. Jamie Sharp - 7th Grade/Lead Counselor

My name is Jamie Sharp and I am the lead counselor at Harmony Middle School. This year I will be working with the 7th grade class. This is my 28th year in Loudoun County as a school counselor. I received my undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in Human Services. My graduate degree is in School Counseling and is also from Virginia Tech.

Mrs. Alysia Brown - 6th Grade Counselor

Greetings! My name is Alysia Brown and this year marks my 16th year as a school counselor in LCPS and my 5th year at Harmony Middle School. This year I will serve as the 6th Grade Counselor

I grew up in Sterling and attended LCPS, graduating from Broad Run High School. I received a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Radford University and a Masters in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. Prior to coming to Harmony, I had the privilege of serving 11 years as the school counselor at Forest Grove Elementary School. Before becoming a school counselor, I worked for Fairfax County Department of Family Services assisting individuals and families with obtaining public benefits and other community services. 

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our daughter, son, our beagles, family, and friends. I also enjoy working out, baking, reading, traveling to the beach (my happy place) and I love a good brunch!! ;)

I look forward to a wonderful and successful 24-25 school year at Harmony!

Sarah Miller

Mrs. Sarah Miller - School Social Worker

Hi Harmony family! I’m Harmony’s School Social Worker. I work with students in all grade levels, helping them to better their mental health.

This is my 12th year at Harmony. I’ve spent my entire career here because I love it so much! I grew up in Fairfax County but have been a Loudoun County resident for over ten years. My undergraduate and master’s degrees are both from George Mason University. In my free time, I like spending time outside, shopping for vintage things, listening to audiobooks, taking pictures, and binge-watching my favorite shows!

Teri Wilson

Mrs. Teri Wilson - Student Assistance Specialist

My name is Teri, and I am a social worker with a Master’s in Social Work. For the past few years, I have worked at the Berkeley Day Report Center as the adult drug court therapist for the county, where I ran Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and provided therapy to clients. Prior to this, I was a school social worker for Berkeley County Schools through the Martinsburg Initiative. My primary focus was to provide trauma support and interventions for children affected by substance use. Before that, I served as a TDT specialist at Clark County High School and Boyce Elementary, providing specialized therapeutic support to students.

Debbie Kimball

Mrs. Debbie Kimball - School Psychologist

My name is Debbie Kimball, and I am the School Psychologist at Harmony Middle School. I grew up in Virginia Beach then went off to college in North Carolina. I received my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Psychology and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Psychology from East Carolina University. I spent my first 12 years as a school psychologist in North Carolina. In August 2007, after getting married, I transferred to Frederick County Schools in Virginia and remained there until 2022. This is my third year with LCPS. I have a stepdaughter and 3 grandsons! I am excited to be at Harmony!
