OVERVIEW OF CREATIVITY, ACTIVITY, SERVICE (CAS)
LVHS Senior Capstone is now Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). This program encourages students to explore interests, take risks in trying new things, and helps you become an interesting, well-rounded person. CAS experiences build the student, apart from academics. CAS acknowledges you have a well-rounded life.
Loudoun Valley High School is committed to producing compassionate, culturally aware citizens who are well-prepared for the world beyond our doors. CAS is a key part of achieving this, helping students find balance between studies and real-life experiences that foster personal and social development.

EXPLANATION OF CREATIVITY, ACTIVITY, AND SERVICE COMPONENTS
Students will complete a Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) portfolio and present their CAS project in its entirety.
CAS components are integral elements designed to foster holistic development and a well-rounded educational experience. Understanding the essence of each component is crucial for students as they embark on their CAS journey. Your experiences should include ongoing commitment over time that is captured in your CAS portfolio.
Creativity:

Examples: Participating in a school play, learning a musical instrument, painting, writing poetry, computer coding, or engaging in any activity that involves innovative and imaginative thinking.
Purpose: The Creativity component encourages students to explore their creative potential, fostering an appreciation for the arts and/or developing skills in creative expression.
Activity:
Definition: The Activity component involves participating in physical exertion, sports, and other forms of physical recreation that contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
Examples: Playing a sport, participating in fitness activities, hiking, yoga, or engaging in any form of physical activity that promotes health and well-being.
Purpose: The Activity component emphasizes the importance of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, contributing to both physical well-being and personal development.
Service:
Definition: Service, in the CAS framework, involves contributing to the community and demonstrating a commitment to others. It encompasses a broad range of activities that benefit individuals, groups, or the community at large.
Examples: Volunteering at local charities, organizing community events, participating in environmental projects, or providing support to those in need.
Purpose: The Service component instills a sense of social responsibility, empathy, and an understanding of the impact individuals can have on the well-being of their communities.
There are a variety of ways you can meet the requirements of the CAS Project. For example, Your CAS project may be three individual activities, one (or more) for each of the three areas of CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service). Alternatively, your project could integrate multiple components into one or more experiences.
