Music

Stone Hill Music Department

Welcome to the Music Department at Stone Hill Middle School! Music is required in 6th grade and the offerings include band, chorus, strings, and music lab. In 7th grade, band, chorus, guitar, and strings are offered as part of a fine arts elective. In 8th grade, students may choose from full block electives that include instruction in band, chorus, guitar, or strings.

Stone Hill MS music students have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities such as All-County Chorus, All-District Chorus, Junior Regional Orchestra, All-County Orchestra, All-County Guitar, District Band Assessment, District Choral Assessment, Solo and Ensemble Festival, VCDA MS Honors Chorus, and ACDA Regional and National Choruses.

The Virginia Music Educators Association has recognized Stone Hill for its outstanding music program with the Blue Ribbon Award. This award is only given to middle and high schools whose Band, Chorus, and Strings programs participate in their respective District Assessments and receive a Superior Rating, the highest rating that can be achieved. We are proud to have been recognized for this honor for five years.
