PBIS Information

PBIS: The Big Idea:

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support is an approach for teaching children appropriate behavior and providing the supports necessary to sustain that behavior.  PBIS is not a curriculum - it is a framework for systems to identify needs, develop strategies, and evaluate practice toward success.

PBIS Goals:

  • Foster a safe, more effective school environment

  • Promote the prevention of disciples/behavior problems

  • Encourage natural success

  • Teach and support positive behavior for all students

Sammy Tickets:

The Sycolin Creek staff loves catching students demonstrating the expected behavior!  Students will be celebrated by receiving a Sammy ticket.  When the entire class demonstrates the expected behavior, they can earn a Class Sammy Ticket, too!

When a class earns 100 tickets, the class name is shared on the announcements and they earn a special reward in their classroom for the entire class to enjoy.

  • Respect Yourself

  • Respect Others

  • Respect Property

Has your student earned a Sammy Ticket at school?

  • Look for the ticket to come home to share with you.

  • Ask them to share how they earned to the ticket. What did they specifically do to earn it?

  • Celebrate!

Fun Dining

Each day, students are given the opportunity to move toward a celebration.  During the first quarter, students work to score a touchdown as a class by following the expected behavior in the cafeteria each day for 10 days.  After scoring a touchdown, the class name is celebrated on the announcements and their name is added for a chance to have fun dining with Mr. Racino, Mrs. Jones, and Mrs. Bryan.  Good luck Salamanders!
