About
Loudoun County Public Schools welcomes you and is glad you will be joining our school division!
The pre-registration portal for kindergarten and all students in grades 1-12 who are new to LCPS for the 2024/25 school year is open. Online pre-registration is the preferred method to register a new or returning LCPS student. Once you submit your registration online, your school will contact you within five days to schedule your registration appointment. If you are not contacted by your school’s registrar, please contact your school’s registrar directly to schedule a registration appointment. Registrar contact information is located on each school’s webpage. Below are steps to guide your registration process.
Remember that online pre-registration is only for:
Students, grades kindergarten-12, who are new to LCPS
Current LCPS pre-kindergarten students entering kindergarten
Students who were formerly enrolled and may be returning to LCPS
Students who are currently enrolled do not need to re-register.
Steps to Enroll Your Student in Loudoun County Public Schools
1. Determine Eligibility
Two factors determine a child’s eligibility to enroll in kindergarten in Loudoun County Public Schools:
Age: Children must be 5 years of age or older by September 30.
Residency: The student must be living with a parent or legal guardian and residing in Loudoun County.
Please note that Virginia law states that parents must ensure a child attends school if they will be five years old on or before September 30. However, if, in your opinion, as a parent, your child is not mentally, physically, or emotionally prepared to attend school, they may be exempted for that year. You will need to notify the LCPS Student Services Coordinator if you do not want your child to attend kindergarten until the following year. Once a student turns six, school attendance is mandatory. Grade placement will be determined at the time of enrollment, with factors such as age, academic records, and school readiness considered.
2. Find Your Neighborhood School
Use the LCPS Attendance Boundary E-Listing to locate your student’s home school.
3. Gather the Required Documents
Parents must provide several documents when registering their child. These documents show proof of residency, proof of age, guardianship, immunization and health records. The full list of required documents can be found on the LCPS website. If you are missing any of the required documentation, please contact your home school for guidance.
4. Create a ParentVue Account and Complete Online Pre-Registration
Online registration is the preferred method to register a new student. To register a student, a parent or guardian must first create a ParentVue account. Follow the steps in the Online Pre-registration Getting Started guide (ENG) (SPAN) to create your ParentVUE account and start the Online Pre-registration process. If you are unable or do not wish to use online registration, download the registration forms or contact your student’s home school.
5. Appointment with School
Once you complete the online registration and have the required documentation (in some cases, with the exception of medical), the school registrar will contact you within five business days. If your school registrar does not contact you, call your student’s home school and schedule a registration appointment. During the appointment, the registrar will review all registration documents and answer any questions you may have.
