The Mckinney-vento Act Guarantees School Enrollment For Anyone Who Does Not Have A Fixed, Regular Or Adequate Nighttime Residence. Please Apply If You Are Living:
In An Emergency Shelter Or Transitional Housing
In A Motel, Hotel, Car, Rv, Public Space Or Abandoned Building Because You Have Nowhere Else To Go
Doubled Up With Relatives Or Friends Due To Loss Of Housing, Economic Hardship, Or A Similar Reason
Migratory Children Living In Any Of The Above Situations
School Aged Students Not In The Physical Custody Of A Parent Or Legal Guardian Living In Any Of The Above Situations
Services Available Include:
Immediate Enrollment, Even If Missing Registration Documentation (School Records, Medical Records, Vaccination Records, Proof Of Residency)
Remain At The School The Student Last Attended When They Had Permanent Housing (School Of Origin)
Receive Transportation To The School Of Origin
Receive Free School Meals

Mckinney-vento Application Portal
All Applications For The 2024-2025 School Year Are To Be Completed Electronically Via The Mckinney-vento Portal. Applications Are Accepted Throughout The School Year.
If You Have More Than One Child Already Enrolled And Active In Loudoun County Public Schools (Lcps), You Only Need To Complete An Application For One Of Your Children. This Information Will Be Used To Create Additional Applications For Your Remaining Children. If You Are Enrolling Your Children For The First Time In Lcps Or They Are Inactive, Please Complete An Application For Each Child. Please Be Sure To Provide As Much Information As You Are Willing On The Application When Describing Your Current Living Situation.
If You Need Assistance With Completing An Application, Please Contact Your Students' School.
Once The Mckinney-vento Team Receives And Processes The Application, You And The Mckinney-vento Team At Your Child's School Will Receive An Email Indicating If The Application Has Been Approved, Denied, Or If More Information Is Needed. If Approved, An Eligibility Determination Email Will Be Sent And This Is Valid For The Entire School Year In Which The Child Has Applied.
Applications Must Be Submitted Every School Year Even If There Is No Change To Your Housing, But You Would Still Like To Be Considered For Assistance.
