PBIS

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based framework for improving and integrating all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. It is a way to support everyone to create the kinds of schools where all students are successful.

Liberty's PBIS Goals:

  1. 1. Create and execute a school-wide house system to promote positive behavior

  2. 2. Facilitate collaboration between SEL (Social Emotional Learning) and PBIS to create more equitable experiences for all students

  3. 3. Create a system to report classroom non-referral behaviors to enhance data collection

PBIS at Liberty:

House System:

Each class has been sorted into one of four houses; Water, Fire, Wind and Earth. Led by 5th grade house mentors, houses will meet quarterly to discuss positive behaviors and celebrate their success as a house. At the end of each quarter, houses will celebrate together and the house with the most points will get an extra surprise!

Coins:

Students will have the opportunity to earn blue and white coins based on their behavior. Blue coins are given to students for their individual positive behaviors throughout the day. White eagles are given to whole classes. Each coin a student receives also translates into house points.

Monthly Focus Area:

Each month, the PBIS team focuses on one area of the school to promote positive behavior and following expectations. At the end of each month, one class who has  demonstrated exceptional behavior and followed expectations will receive a class reward.
