Level Up at Lightridge
At Lightridge High School, we want to ensure that all of our students are prepared for success in the level of courses which they choose. We recognize that this sometimes means you may not be in agreement with the course that was recommended for you. If you wish to challenge yourself with a level of rigor higher than that which was originally recommended by your current classroom teacher, we want to keep the door open for your decision, while ensuring that you are ready to take on the challenge you have selected. As part of your request to LevelUp, please do the following:
Complete the Permission Click Level Up form for the appropriate Department
English
Once completed, the form will be sent to your current teacher.
It is then your responsibility to set up a time with your current teacher to further discuss your request.
Once you have had a conversation with your teacher, he/she will then send an email summarizing your conversation and their recommendations to your parent.
Once completed, your teacher will forward the request to your school counselor.
If the course you are requesting is an AP course, your parent must also complete the Lightridge AP Contract.
When your counselor receives the final permission click form, your course will be changed.
Keep in mind, a schedule change is not always possible!
Regardless of the grade being earned, no schedule change will be permitted prior to the end of the first quarter.
Approved schedule changes will be made based on seat availability and in accordance with the LCPS Program of Studies
Some courses do not have an opportunity for a level down and therefore may require a change in diploma type or a summer course to catch up with graduation requirements. Examples include: AP Physics, AP Chemistry and AP Biology.
A student's grade earned during first quarter will follow the student to the new course. No adjustments for weight of course (honors, AP, DE).
Once completed, the form will be sent to your current teacher. Please set up a time with your current teacher to further discuss your request. This is your responsibility, NOT your teachers.
