First Grade

Welcome to First Grade

Dear Rising 1st Graders,

We are so excited about meeting you! We have been busy planning lots of fun learning activities for you! Be sure to check out each individual teacher’s page to learn more about us.

Please be sure to check the supply list to make sure you have everything your child will need in 1st grade. There is a separate list for boys and girls. Please DO NOT send glittery notebooks, personal pencil sharpeners, or cute fidget spinners/erasers/toys.  These items will be sent back home on the first day.  We use the majority of the supplies as “community supplies”, so we would prefer that you don’t individually label each item. We will label what’s necessary once we arrive back at school. We know that students love to have cute supplies, but the less-fancy ones are often the best and longest-lasting.

Here are some suggestions for things to do over the summer:

  • Learn how to tie your shoes independently!

  • Read, read, read, and read some more!

  • Practice counting forwards and backwards. Challenge: practice skip counting!

  • Write letters to friends and family.

  • Learn your address, phone number, and birthday.

  • Practice random acts of kindness!

We hope you have a wonderful summer, and we can’t wait to see your smiling faces in August!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Berg, Mrs. Brzezynski, Mrs. Lyman, and Mrs. Nelson
