Principal
Mrs. Jennifer Short is serving in her twelfth year as principal at Sterling Elementary School. Prior to becoming Sterling's principal, Mrs. Short was Assistant Principal at Lowes Island Elementary School for four years. Mrs. Short received her Bachelor’s Degree from James Madison University in 1999 and taught eighth grade students with Learning Disabilities and Emotional Disabilities in Augusta County at Beverley Manor Middle School for one year prior to moving back to the Northern Virginia area closer to her family. She spent the next six years as an eighth grade teacher for students with Learning Disabilities and Emotional Disabilities at Woodbridge Middle School in Prince William County where she also served as the Special Education Department Chair. In 2006, Mrs. Short earned her Master’s Degree from George Washington University in Education Administration and Supervision. She spent the next three years serving Bel Air Elementary School as the Instructional Consultation Team Facilitator working with teachers to improve their instructional practices in order to meet the needs of every student in the classroom. In 2009, Mrs. Short joined Loudoun County Public Schools as Assistant Principal of Lowes Island Elementary School. She has been proud to serve the BEST group of students in the state of Virginia as principal at Sterling Elementary School since 2013! In 2019, Mrs. Short was honored to represent the Sterling Park community as Loudoun County's Principal of the Year.
Outside of school, Mrs. Short loves spending time with her family. At home, Mrs. Short enjoys spending time with her husband and five children playing games, watching and playing sports, and enjoying the outdoors. While the rest of the family cheers on the Redskins and Chiefs, she's still cheering hard for her Steelers! Go Steelers!
