Art

Art education classes at the elementary level provide students with the opportunity for hands-on experience (art production), as well as the integration of art history, art criticism and aesthetics.  Through their artwork, students build skills in many areas, including self-expression and problem solving.

Major themes around which the art program are centered are:

  • Experience in a wide variety of media including drawing, painting, weaving, ceramics, collage, assemblage, printmaking, photography, and computer imaging.

  • Integration of art and the regular classroom curriculum

  • Study of art forms from diverse cultures

  • Study of art history, including masters and how their work related to other art work of their time and culture

Program highlights:

  • Student artwork on display throughout the building

  • Student art work displayed at the Park View Cluster's Fine Arts Night

  • 5th grade yearbook designs voted on by the entire fifth grade class. The top five designs will be featured in the 2024-2025 yearbook.
