Art education classes at the elementary level provide students with the opportunity for hands-on experience (art production), as well as the integration of art history, art criticism and aesthetics. Through their artwork, students build skills in many areas, including self-expression and problem solving.
Major themes around which the art program are centered are:
Experience in a wide variety of media including drawing, painting, weaving, ceramics, collage, assemblage, printmaking, photography, and computer imaging.
Integration of art and the regular classroom curriculum
Study of art forms from diverse cultures
Study of art history, including masters and how their work related to other art work of their time and culture

5th grade yearbook designs voted on by the entire fifth grade class. The top five designs will be featured in the 2023-2024 yearbook.
Kindergarten
Students will use shapes and patterns to draw, paint and decorate a snowman in a snowglobe.
Students will learn collage and mixed-media techniques to assemble a scene of a town during a snow storm.
First Grade
· Students will illustrate a wild creature by mixing features of 3+ animals, including a background habitat that uses clues from their features.
· Students will weave a tabby weave using paper to create a paper blanket for a self-portrait.
Second Grade
Students will study ceramics and sculpt a pinch pot pet.
Students will use geometric and organic shapes to make a mixed media still life.
Third Grade
Students will study weaving and create a pouch, purse or pillow out of their finished weaving.
Students will use patterns and motifs to create a zentangle letter or shape showing positive and negative space.
Fourth Grade
Students will continue their study of perspective by drawing a person from an ant's eye view.
Students will learn about fiber arts, including how to weave a small basket.
Fifth Grade
Students will study Alexander Calder and create a self-supporting wire sculpture of a living thing.
Students will learn about fiber arts, including how to sew with a whipstitch to use on a pizza or emoji pillow.
