Our hours of operation are 8:00 AM -3:30 PM when school is in session.

Please email your school counselor to schedule an appointment.

How can students request see their school counselor?

  1. Students are welcome to stop by in the morning before class to see if their counselor is available for a quick chat or to schedule a time to talk.

  2. Students can make a pass to see their school counselor.

  3. In case of an emergency, please go to the House Office and we will be sure to have a member of the Unified Mental Health Team meet with you.

Mission, Vision, and Belief Statements

Vision Statement:

The students at Watson Mountain Middle School are high-achieving, lifelong learners who exercise critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration in their daily lives. The students are active participants in their community, acknowledging and respecting differences amongst their peers. Students value the unique perspectives of their classmates, and are able to collaborate with them to create an empathetic, inclusive learning environment. When faced with challenges, students demonstrate resilience by overcoming obstacles and advocating for themselves and others when needed. The school counseling program sparks curiosity and encourages students to pursue their passions so that students are reaching their full potential and achieving their dreams upon graduation. 

Mission Statement:

The school counselors at Watson Mountain Middle School advocate for all students by providing a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the ASCA National Model. The counseling program is rooted in data-driven services that provide equitable access to interventions. School counselors will work to support the academic, career, and personal/social development of each student through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual meetings. With relationships being our primary focus, we will collaborate with stakeholders including administration, teachers, and parents to discover the genius in every child, so that all students are equipped to make meaningful contributions to the world.

Belief Statements:

  • The school counselor will advocate for all students

  • Each student’s unique backgrounds (ethnic, cultural, racial, socioeconomic, gender, special education) are considered in the planning and implementation of the school counseling program

  • School counselors connect students, parents, teachers, and administration to support student academic and emotional success

  • A strong school counseling program is defined by planning, management, delivery and evaluation of direct and indirect services

  • Data helps define measurable goals and craft tailored interventions

  • The ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors provides a framework for the school counseling program
