English Language Learning Team
The EL Team
Multilingual learners are provided support within their classrooms with English speaking peers. Their Interaction with peers provides models for language and social development. An EL teacher will “push in” to support, modify, or provide accommodations for the student.
Multilingual learners who are newcomers may also receive assistance for a portion of the day through the pull-out component of the EL program during their first 30 days in the country. In pull-out, they will receive intensive instruction in English and also receive language support with content area subjects. Grade level teachers accommodate and modify work for EL students, as needed.
Our goal is to communicate and collaborate with families to ensure we provide specialized academic support in a nurturing environment with respect, and the inclusion of the student's cultural and linguistic heritage.
