January 28 - Teacher Recommendations visible in ParentVUE/StudentVUE

February 11th| 5:00-6:45 | JML Auditorium -- Rising 7th & 8th Grade Curriculum Night and Elective Fair

February 28 - Last day for students to update & submit course plan through SchooLinks

January 28-March 28- Counselors meet one-on-one with every 7th grade student to discuss student's courses for next year, their goals, and approve course plan

April 1st- Student Course Selections viewable on ParentVUE/StudentVUE

June 13th- Last day students and parents can request changes to their course requests for 8th grade

In 8th Grade, all students will take a full block of Resource, and 7 total graded classes.  Here is an outline of the courses available:  

• English 8 (Academic or Honors)

• Physical Science 8  (Academic or Honors)

• Civics 8 Honors

• Math (Pre-Algebra,  Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II/Trig)*

• HPE 8

• 2 full block Electives*

*Math Selections are based on the LCPS Math Course Progressions and Teacher Recommendations.

**Options for our 8th graders for their TWO full block electives are:  Drama, Art 8, 3D Art,  Intro to Computer Science, Computer Science Foundations, FACS 8, Tech Ed 8, Tech. of Robotic Design, Spanish I, Spanish II, German I, German II, French I, French II (Robotics and World Languages are high school credit courses, rigorous, and are factored into the student’s high school GPA/transcript).

If your child is enrolled in Spectrum, they will take their Spectrum class for half a block and take a half block of Resource.
