What is a Family Liaison?

What can the Family Liaison do for you?  I am YOUR resource for any challenges that may come up.  Some potential areas that I can assist: 

  • * Navigating school-issued technology from a parent perspective. 

  • * Assisting in finding resources in the community such as transportation, medical, dental, etc. 

  • * Empowering parents to become an active participant in their student's education by assisting with communication and helping to engage in opportunities. 

  • * Connecting families with outside organizations for support.  

  • * Securing translation assistance or other communication needs. 

  • * Helping to secure food, clothing or other financial needs.  

  • * Creating a place for parents to contribute and give back by joining the JML CARE network. 

  • * Being a friendly face to ask all the nervous, curious or "silly" questions that you may not want to ask officially (I am one of you, I get it).  

  • * Serving as a confidential source to help problem-solve any life barriers that arises which may impact education.

Connecting with Family Liaisons

Outreach Services: All LCPS Family Liaisons work for the office of Outreach Services. The Office of Outreach Services supports the family liaisons at each school, interpreters, and the Community School Initiative. Our office works closely with school staff, community partners, business partners and other stakeholders. Our goal is to connect students and families to the school community, and identify tools and resources that will help all students achieve educational success.
