I was born in Washington, DC. I grew up in Springfield, Va. After graduating from high school, I went to George Mason University and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication. Later, I received my Master of Education in Special Education from George Mason University.
I live in Winchester, Va with my wonderful husband of 38 years and our chocolate labrador retriever, Molly. Our son, Brian, is married and lives in Reston, Va with his wife and two daughters. Our daughter, Allie, is married and lives in Winchester, Va with her husband and daughter.
I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, gardening, and going on hikes in the Shenandoah Valley.
Mrs. Emmalie Mackenzie
Hello, scholars! Mrs. McKenzie is thrilled to be starting her first year at MCCS and can't wait to get to know each and every one of you!
Mrs. McKenzie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a Master's Degree in Special Education, and a certification in Autism Education from Liberty University. This is her eighth year as a Special Educator. Before MCCS, Mrs. McKenzie taught at the middle and elementary school levels in Ashburn, VA. She is passionate about ensuring all scholars are equipped with the 21st-century skills they need to flourish, recognize their unique gifts, and celebrate their successes!
Mrs. McKenzie's experiences have also shaped her understanding of students' diverse needs. Born in Charleston, SC, she grew up in a military family, living in various states and attending nine schools during her K-12 education. This unique perspective allows her to connect with students with similar experiences.
Mrs. McKenzie resides in West Virginia with her husband and their German Shepherd mix, Johny Cash. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, watching the Tar Heels or Baltimore Ravens play, and spending time with family.
With her passion for education and her unique experiences, Mrs. McKenzie is looking forward to a fantastic year with the MCCS family. She can't wait to meet you all and embark on this exciting journey together!
