Mission
The mission of the MCCS counseling program is to provide a comprehensive and developmental program in areas that will address the academic, career, and personal/social development of scholars. Mental Health Resources
Information regarding mental health resources can be found on the LCPS website: Resources for Families
*The school counselor is the first point of contact for initial student concerns. The school counselor will collaborate and plan for supports with other school-based mental health team members (i.e., school psychologist, school social worker, student assistance specialist), as appropriate.
Bullying Prevention
Our Bullying Prevention Coordinator is Principal Stephen Robinson, Email Stephen Robinson. If you have any concerns regarding bullying, please contact Principal Robinson.
Loudoun County Public Schools implement a county-wide bullying prevention program to teach students how to identify bullying behavior and appropriate ways to solve possible bullying concerns. LCPS School Counselors provide a Bullying Prevention curriculum (through Second Step) which is delivered to all students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. This evidence-based program provides students with four bullying prevention lessons each year. The lesson focuses on 3R’s, and teaches students how to Recognize, Report, and Refuse bullying behavior.
Additional Resources for Parents/Guardians:
Student Attendance
Regular attendance and punctuality can promote student success!
MCCS students are encouraged to have regular attendance and start their day before the bell. Students benefit from having time to unpack, say "hello" to classmates/friends, and listen to the morning announcements before academic instruction begins each day.
How can your student help with punctuality:
Select clothes the night before school.
Pack your lunch and backpack the night before school.
Set your own alarm.
No need to skip breakfast if you are running late. Take breakfast with you!
How can parents help with punctuality:
Reward children! This can be for getting up on time, getting dressed on time, being cooperative, etc.
Rewards might include:
Child's choice for breakfast
Child's choice of music in the car
Dance party at home (5 minutes of dancing before leaving)
Or you can make a menu of rewards and each child makes a selection when ready for school!
