Mrs. Cassy Roark
Reading Specialist and EL Teacher
I am thrilled to join the MCCS as the Reading Specialist and the English Language teacher. I have taught in Loudoun County for 3 years and this will be my 24th year teaching.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a certification in Elementary Childhood Education from James Madison University. I hold a Master’s Degree in Literacy with an endorsement in Reading Specialist from Shenandoah University. Additionally, I have endorsements in Special Education and English as a Second Language.
I live in Winchester Va. When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, taking walks, reading, and traveling to the beach.
I look forward to supporting the MCCS teachers, scholars, and community in the area of reading, writing, and language development.

Mrs. Lea Longerbeam
My name is Mrs. Lea Longerbeam, and I am very excited to join the MCCS family as the PALS Tutor.
I retired from LCPS in July 2023 after teaching Secondary English and English Electives for 34 years. A year ago, I was hired as a University Supervisor for George Mason University, overseeing student teaching interns in the Northern Virginia area on a part-time basis. I am happy to also add my part-time position at MCCS because I have a passion for helping students of all ages reach their potential.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communications and Journalism from Radford University and a Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in English Education from George Mason University.
A fun fact about me is that I have a long history with MCCS. I attended Middleburg Elementary School (the predecessor of MCCS), as did my siblings, my children, and many other relatives. In fact, I had family members attending the school every year from its founding in 1911 until my youngest son graduated in 2012. My mother, Mary Lee (Trenary) Phelps, was a teacher at Middleburg Elementary and, for the last 20 years of her career, she served as the school’s principal. I spent countless hours in the building waiting for my mother’s workday to end, and I am proud to say that I read every biography in the library’s collection while waiting to go home at the end of the school day. Perhaps that set the stage for me to become an English teacher!
I live in Middleburg with my husband Scott, and I have two sons, Nathan, who is a teacher in the Loudoun County Public School system, and Mitchell, who works for a Defense Department contractor in the DC area.
I look forward to being a part of the MCCS family again!
