Course Scheduling Information for Potomac Falls High School 

Here you will find the important information for course selection, including the course change request form, dual enrollment forms, & courses offered at PFH for current Freshman, Sophomores, & Juniors. 

LCPS is rolling out a new process for course selection for the 2025-2026 school year. Students will be completing Course Planner in SchooLinks starting January 13th. School Counselors will be providing lessons for students in grades 9-11 about how to complete Course Planner. Course planner will be utilized for student to elect classes for their future high school years. Please keep in mind that teacher recommendations will be uploaded for parents on January 28 in StudentVue and will be updated in SchooLinks.

Teachers will be evaluating student performance and data to make recommendations for course levels for next year. Please take these teacher's recommendations seriously and encourage your student to have a conversation with their teacher if the student does not agree with a teacher’s recommendation. Teacher recommendations will be posted automatically into StudentVUE on January 28th and will be updated in SchooLinks upon your student's course scheduling meeting with their counselor. You and your student are able to request changes to recommendations after your student has met with their school counselor, the process to request the change will be provided in an email to the student and parent/guardian.

Students will add/change elective courses in SchooLinks (via course planner) during the course change window in the Spring of 2025. Students are encouraged to select their electives prior to meeting with their school counselor. After this window, the student's school counselor will add in the electives (pending availability) during the individual student meetings. School counselors will meet with ALL students individually to discuss each student’s course selection. Counselors will be sending E-Hall passes for students - please be on the lookout!

Important Dates ('25-'26 school year):

  • Nov 18-19: Academies of Loudoun information sessions during all study halls

  • Nov 25: Academies of Loudoun (ACL) Admissions window opens for MATA & Advanced AET programs

  • Jan 13-24: Course Selection Lessons will be provided to each grade level 

  • Jan 13: Elective selection window OPENS 

    • Students will add electives in SchooLinks. Click here for directions.

  • Jan 15 - current Riverbend 8th graders (Class of 2029) will be presented with an overview of 9th grade classes, answer general questions and assist with choosing electives in SchooLinks

  • Jan 28: Teacher core academic course recommendations are available for 25-26 SY in ParentVUE & StudentVUE for review by parents and students

    • To view recommended courses, students must log into StudentVUE

  • Feb 3-7: Electives Fair & Course selection presentation during Advisory & viewable after in Schoology

  • Feb 6: Panther Curriculum Night, 6:30pm at PFHS

    • More information will be emailed out to students & families

  • Feb 10: Winter admissions cycle for ACL MATA and Advanced AET closes. Applications are due before NOON.

  • Feb 28: Course planner window in SchooLinks CLOSES. 

    • Once the portal closes, students will meet with their school counselor to select electives.

  • Early Feb - Class of 2026: Individual academic advising conducted with counselors for current juniors during study hall. 

  • Middle of Feb - Class of 2027: Individual academic advising conducted with counselors for current sophomores during Health & PE 10. 

  • End of Feb - Class of 2028: Individual Academic Advising conducted with counselors for current freshmen during Health & PE 9.

  • Feb 28: Deadline for student to submit Course Plans via SchooLinks

  • APRIL 4: Final Deadline to turn in Completed Course Request Change Forms & Complete Dual Enrollment Process

  • Broadcast Journalism 1 - Application is available outside of Room 239 (deadline for completed application 02/21/2025)

  • Newspaper Journalism 1 - Application is available outside of Room 239 (deadline for completed application 02/21/2025)

  • Photojournalism 1 (Yearbook) - Application is available outside of Room 239 (deadline for completed application 02/21/2025)

  • Sports Medicine - Application coming soon

  • SCA - Application is available in the MAIN OFFICE (deadline for completed application 02/28/2025)
