LCPS schools will close three (3) hours early tomorrow, Tuesday, February 11, due to the predicted afternoon snowfall for our area. Schools will dismiss 3 hours early and all bus routes will operate three (3) hours earlier than their normal time. All half-day programs such as STEP, Head Start, ECSE, etc., are canceled. All after-school activities are canceled for Tuesday, February 11.  Administrative Offices will also close 3 hours earlier than their scheduled time. The School Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday will be rescheduled for Thursday, February 13 with the work session starting at 4:30 p.m. We will continue to monitor the weather and let you know if anything changes. As a reminder, optional snow day enrichment activities are available for your student at lcps.org/snowdayresources.

Parents/guardians who wish for their student to attend a school different than their home school may apply for Special Permission. Due to recent changes to the Special Permission process, found in Policy 8155, School Assignment, the Special Permission application window now opens earlier than in previous years. This year, the Special Permission application window is open from Monday, Feb. 3, 2025 at 10 a.m. to Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Parents/guardians of elementary students currently on Special Permission must submit a request to continue attending the Special Permission school on or before March 1. Parents/guardians of middle or high school students must submit a request to renew Special Permission to attend the current school of attendance on or before March 1. If a school’s projected enrollment is at 90% of the school’s capacity, this school is classified as over-enrolled. (The schools projected to be over-enrolled can be found on the Special Permission website. Please be aware that this list is subject to change.) Special Permission applications for these schools will not be available.
