Academics

School counselors meet individually with students each year to review academic progress, track graduation requirements, and select courses for the upcoming school year that align with college and career goals. Students are welcome and encouraged to meet with their school counselor at any time regarding academic progress.

Broad Run High School provides a curriculum which aligns with Loudoun County Public Schools and the Commonwealth of Virginia. All students are encouraged to select challenging classes to maximize their learning opportunities. Taking rigorous courses in high school helps prepare students to become college and career ready. Each student is unique with different talents and abilities, so finding the right balance between challenging coursework, involvement in extracurricular activities, and responsibilities in the home are key.

Parents and students should consider the following when making decisions about which classes to choose:

  • previous performance in a subject area

  • standardized test scores

  • interests and commitment of the student

  • recommendations from teachers and counselors

BRHS also offers the following specialized programs to support students academically: National Honor Society (Student Tutors), CAMPUS Program, and Math Lab (math teachers available to provide assistance during study hall). Contact your student's school counselor with questions.
