Young Environmentalists Club

WATERSHEEDS

This club is for those students who are interested in their environment and want to help find solutions to the environmental issues in our area. Any grade can apply. This club will be limited to 12 students. We will meet monthly to discuss, analyze and find an environmental problem in our area to work with. We will, as a group, come up with ideas and solutions and draft a proposal to enter the contest.

CARING FOR OUR WATERSHEDS is an education program and a contest that engages students in preserving and improving their local watersheds through student-led solutions. They run a contest every year for turning student ideas into solutions. CARING FOR OUR WATERSHEDS program and contest asks students to submit a proposal that answers the question, “What can you do to improve your watershed?” Students must research their local watershed, identify an environmental concern and draft a written proposal containing one realistic solution. Community judges select the top entries to compete at a final, verbal competition for cash prizes.

Farmwell entered the contest last year and earned a special recognition. This year our goal is to become one of the finalists. More details on this contest can be found at Caring For Our Water Sheds
