Kimberly Rivera & Cindy Musa

Hello and welcome to the Lowes Island Library! I am your Librarian;  Kim Rivera and my wonderful Library Assistant is Cindy Musa.

We have been working at the Lowes Island Library since 2018. We can't wait to share our love of reading with our school  community.

Our Mission is to support the students, staff and parents by providing a diverse set of books, media and instruction.

We strive to create an environment where ALL  students feel empowered to learn  21st century skills by

incorporating collaboration, communication,  creativity, critical thinking and citizenship.

Hello artists! My name is Elle Halliday and I am so excited to be returning as the art teacher at Lowes Island Elementary! This is my 14th year as an elementary art teacher and my 6th year with Loudoun County Public Schools. I am an artist, teacher, wife and mama to my daughter Willow. I LOVE dogs, patterns, nature, photography, art galleries, traveling, dining out and spending time with my family.

I grew up in Buffalo, NY and enjoy going back to visit. Buffalo is a city of great neighbors! It has a great arts community and delicious food. I received my BFA in Graphic Design and attended Pratt Institute and Buffalo State College. I furthered my education by getting my Master's in Painting and Mixed Media through Virginia Commonwealth University.

Community is very important to me! Over the years, I have been an active volunteer with children, food pantries and nursing homes. I have shown my artwork in art galleries in Fredericksburg, VA and Buffalo, NY. I am a practicing artist and have my own Etsy store and photography business.

I'm so excited to get to know all my students and have them develop their art skills through creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking. Art is about ideas! I look forward to working with you and letting your imagination soar! This WILL be a wonderful school year :)

 Your very proud art teacher,

Mrs. Halliday

Hello! My name is Sarah Bennett and I can't wait to make music with you all! This is my third year teaching at Lowes Island. I received my education from Susquehanna University with a BM in Music Education PK-12 Vocal and Instrumental. While in college, I performed in the choir and community orchestra. I have previously taught baby music classes through a music prep program, guitar lessons, and vocal lessons to elementary students. I currently sing in the Arlington Chorale.

I grew up in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where I spent many summers going to the beach with my family and working as a camp counselor.  Some of my favorite things outside of school include petting dogs, reading, hiking, and arts and crafts!

I am so thankful to be a part of this wonderful community. I can’t wait to explore, create, and collaborate with our wonderful students!

Welcome to music class! Mr. Baber (“BAY-ber”) will teach music every Tuesday at Lowes Island Elementary. All other days he teaches in Purcellville and Round Hill. He has taught music in Loudoun County for over 20 years in elementary, middle, and high schools. Before that, he taught computer technology classes for adults and worked in the technology industry.

Mr. Baber loves music and performs every week outside of school. His favorite instruments are keyboards and voice, though he likes most every instrument. Fun fact - the oldest instrument Mr. Baber has played is a pipe organ nearly 500 years old in Venice, Italy!

When Mr. Baber isn’t at school or making music in other places, he likes to walk, read, play puzzle games, and play with his beautiful dog! Mr. Baber lives with his wife in Loudoun County. They have a grown daughter who is studying to teach English at a university.

Physical Education

Elizabeth Slack

I’m Lizzy Slack (formerly Burgin) and I’m so excited to be of your Physical Education teachers! This will be my 11th year teaching PE at Lowes Island and in Loudoun County! I graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in Communication followed by a Master’s in Education from Emory & Henry University. When I’m not teaching, you can find me teaching or taking a barre class, reading a book, spending time with my husband and family, or taking a nap with my dog!

I’m passionate about helping students learn about health and physical fitness through a variety of different activities! In PE we have goals, SOLs and objectives to follow, but ultimately we want students to have fun, be safe and try their best! Now excuse me, I have to go play Octopus Tag.”

Hello Lowes Island Families! My name is Maddy Rosansky, and I couldn't be more excited to be the Gifted Resource Teacher this year! I taught 4th grade for seven years, where I supported students of many diverse backgrounds, including those who thrive on challenging enrichment and extension. My favorite part of being a teacher is watching students surpass their own expectations of what they can create and accomplish!

I'm a graduate of Loudoun County Public Schools, and I'm honored to return to such a great district! I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Childhood Education K-6 from SUNY Cortland and my Master's in Education at the University of Virginia. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our golden retriever named Winston, family and friends. I love to travel, relax by the beach, read, try new restaurants, and cheer on Washington sports. Go Nats and Caps!
